“A lot of other preschools we looked at were OK and had great structure for the children, BUT Sheffield immediately impressed us with the constantly changing house of books and pictures and toys. So organized and able to give the children (and the adults) that they were coming to a ‘new’ school every other week. A great experience for all...”

“Now when I look back at Sheffield from the world of elementary school, I’m reminded of how much I loved the feeling of being in someone’s home...as if we were all family. It didn’t feel like I was leaving my kids at an institution, it felt like I was leaving them with a family member for the day. It was cozy, it was warm. There was often something cooking in the oven. I would hang out and finish my coffee chatting with the teachers, the other parents, the kids. It was so relaxed and everyone felt so comfortable and at ease... ”

“This is my daughter’s 3rd year at Sheffield. I can not tell you how happy we are we found it. When our daughter started she had been at home with me exclusively, so needless to say I was anxious. But it was a smooth transition and now she attends full-time. I think the small size and intimacy of the surroundings is great. The mixed ages allow for the little ones to learn from the older kids and the older kids to learn more responsibility. I like the play-based program and see my daughter learning new things all the time and truly enjoying it. Every month there is a theme and there are lots of wonderful activities that express them. I remember my daughter coming home one day, seeing a bus and telling me the Rosa Parks story. That certainly impressed me. There is lots of family involvement and June (the director) is available and helpful with any developmental questions or concerns you may have with your child. We are having another child and I have no doubt we will remain a Sheffield family.”

“What’s most important to me about June’s program has been that she takes the time to get to know each child as an individual and it has really benefited my child by giving them a strong sense of self.”
– Chris Holey
“The Sheffield Preschool Program makes the preschool process enjoyable and rewarding, especially the history of caring staff who are stable and committed. The low turnover rate of June’s assistants is an especially important benefit of our daughter preschool experiences.”

“The children’s day at Sheffield is not helter-skelter — it’s organized but low key, so professional. June has a vision — I think she’s a genius... I wish she took took graduate students.”– Mary T. (grandmother)
